Suicide Tribute Week Winners
Your all winners! all of you losers!
A big thanks to everyone who contributed.
So after long thought and deliberation, we decided to give the Suicide week prize to a newer band.
We had loads of entries and obviously realize the value of Spacemen 3, DAF, Relaxed Muscle, Sisters of Mercy and loads of others - but we thought we would give some time to Ghost Exits.
from Heath’s (the winner) own post:
Q: Do you get fucked up before you play shows or go into the studio?
A: We regularly perform on PCP. We get a hard time in the press for that; they call us lurid and ah, self destructive.
Another Friday night at Pianos, and it was evident that the bass player had tied if not one, several, on and was already flat on the floor before they even hit the stage. His partner did his best to carry on as though nought was amiss. The bassist managed pretty well for the first couple of tunes, and when he asked us to imagine a marriage between Jay-Z and Mark E Smith, we knew what he was on about. Then there was a kind of train wreck between the bass and the mic stand, and things deteriorated a bit as he attempted to play, retune the bass, sing into a handheld mike, all at the same time. Not always successfully, but to some effect. He managed to recover enough to create some serious havoc at the end where they revisited the first couple of tunes. When ultimately, after having whipped the front rows with a mic cable, and making menacing movements towards the amps, he finally fell back flat to the floor, we all breathed a bit of a sigh of relief.
They were nice enough to send a link to there version of The Pop Groups - She is Beyond Good and Evil.
Ghost Exits - She Is Beyond Good and Evil
By the way, our winner, Heath has his own mp3 blog, Just For a Day, go and check it out!
We got some more posts about em too by other people…

actually Ghost Exits sound more like suicide meets grandmaster flash. i like them, but they try to hard to sound edgy, or something. i managed to watch a video of the band live here (and there’s another one a here)
it seems that, live, their “suicideness” grows about 5 points.

Ghost Exits are fantastic, and getting better and weirder. They have friends in Cali called Jaws who have a demo that is brilliant white-boy electro-funk.
Anyone from Ghost Exits can email us, and we will send you a free CD of Stuff. We have also contacted Heath to arrange the sending of the prize.
Congrats! (and keep it Suicide-y)
In other news today in the U.K. The Knife - Heartbeats is finally out, on a 12″ with a Rex the Dog remix too! XFM played it, and so did Radio 2.
What do recon are the chances if we all go and buy it of getting it in the top 40?
Yeh me neither…..
Anyway I recommend the video for
and
The Knife - You Take My Breath Away
And obviously
The Knife - Heartsbeats which we are all going to rush out and buy.
Gutterbreakz has outdone himself again with some Robert Rental stuff
Coco Electric - no mp3 on the site, but it’s worth listening to the streams, which are all pretty cool, and there is a nice video for the single too, thanks for the link Dan!

“ghost exits” are a great nu-suicide band, but i think the most suicidesque band were ARE weapons, at least in the 1st single. the album was a bit different, less monotonous, but good, anyway.

but nobody proposed A.R.E. Weapons! we couldn’t give the cd prize to ourselves…
I think a decisive factor was the echoey yelping at the end of the Ghost Exits track…
Cheers!
