Had we ever told you we never write our reviews? this blog is just an A.I. project, our mainframe, who goes by the name of ‘Lemon’* does everything, it even picks the tracks. We don’t like music, music is so passe, we are into videogames!
Anyway, Lemon decided to do Mahjongg and it went all funny and then fell off the desk, which is kinda weird cos we didn’t even knew it could move. Gee, maybe it was trying to dance, wow!
Anyway, gotta go and fix Lemon. Yeah, listen to Mahjongg you music enjoyers, you! We’ve got better things to do, have heard about this new computer virus which makes all your e-mails look infected even when they aren’t so you can’t send e-mails, keep your ears open, this might be the end of civilisation as we know it. Gonna buy one of those customised air-guns (we live in the UK, see) in case we end up in a Resident Evil scenario, you know? with zombies and vampire dogs, now we like that.
ALAN TURING POSSE 4 LIFE!
*-we were going to call it Caerberus but then that was too Matrix. We are neat, we don’t dig PVC trenchcoats.

well, that’s quite a nice track. but it’s all a bit guitary innit? still sounds like some gang of four out-takes too. why aren’t there more obvious synths and weirdy stuff?

Hi Phil…
…the answer to your question is more or less…’because they saved them for the rest of the record’. This song could actually be the one that comes closer to ‘normality’ and still, check the way the beat goes, it’s all fucked up and wrong in the best possible way.
Thanks for reading and commenting!
And no, we haven’t seen them live, hopefully soon?
(Lemon is fixed now)

Hilarious post, i hope Lemon gets better. I actually like this song better than what i have heard by Gang of Four, is that a sacrilege? I wish they left that funny loop at the end running longer and made a new track out of it like the Stone Roses.

Go4 references - these are the bane of my rock music life at the moment. i’d probably agree that the mahjongg track is better than all bar 3 tracks from the old days. STILL… there’s that angular guitar style all the way through it that seems so slavishly copied. they should copy early eno synth solos instead!

Don’t know if it’s copied Phil, personally i find it quite easy to plug in my rubbish guitar and play something approximating a verse of a Prince or Rick James or James Brown track. Next thing i know my better half is telling me i sound like The Rapture , Franz Ferdinand, !!! or Talking Heads. I don’t think this is a bad thing, but you know…
Very happy for Mahjongg themselves that people thing they are better than Gang of Four This is high praise indeed (and yes it is sacrilege).
If Mahjongg had ripped off the early eno synth sound, they would be a different band! Maybe try a band who do use that sound, instead of trying to listen out for it in one who don’t.
How about Ratatat?
Cheers for all the comments, keep em coming or we will give up through sadness and neglect.
