Old man take a look at my life/bingo card

Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music did lots of albums which incorporated the talents of his friends. Naturally this included a certain Mr.Eno.

Inspired by a No Sweat Nights post we looked into the Phil both as a guitarist and song writer and found this Diamond Head of a tune by him and our baldly with a mullet hero Brian.

Call it obscene, Prog or whatever there is an undeniable charm we cannot help admire in Miss Shapiro which steps the missing evolution from Syd Barrett through to Talking Heads in six minutes of beardy fly eyed(wow what a look!!) guitar harmonics.

Phil Manzanera - Miss Shapiro

I’m sure they were using the cards, and cut ups for the charming nonsensical lyrics.
Like The Archers?? You mad old long hairs.

I blame early senility.

When we are old they will stick us in a dark home with repetitive beats and big pills. Some have said this would be like pac man.

We can dance as Vic, Bob and your Dad to DJ Kicks(but not very much since his/her new hip replacement) compilations and scream about how music isn’t like in the old days.

No, it’s not is it dear - still nice pills, I think I’ve just come up.
Constipation ? Not to worry, and every lavatory visit will be a joy.

In my old peoples home I hope the hospital radio plays the Donna Summer sampling Plastique De Reve - Our Love, because everybody knows 10 minutes of acid disco is dead good for old people.

Plastique De Reve - Our Love

Plastique have a new record The Sounds You Hear on Tiga’s Turbo label right now. The b-side “Do it” is the best thing we have heard since Queen of Rock Roxanne Shante. Platique are also responsible for the track Rodeo Mecanique which we highly recomend you get from old fashioned labelGigolo.

In my home want to be sat in the big Giorgio chair with mandatory pet 303/808 purring acid bleeps lovingly on my lap dreaming or being Davros or Stephen Halking.

They don’t make em like they used to dear.

Whats that you say? Time for a dance?

Bingo will be a thing of the past.

i was going to post miss shapiro on my blog thing, if only for the riff and backwards sounding stuff but chose a more guitary one instead. always been ambivalent about it, in any case, as with many of eno’s childish vocal line songs - i can’t really like it when it sounds so stupid, can i??
