Noise for the Lizard Lounger

Featuring:

Sightings – Sugar Sediment

Sightings have taken the gentlest distant drift of a psychopathic nursery rhyme and welded it down under a wave of crunching noise distortion. It screams and whales in response and claws its way up, climbing and then tumbling back down.

The drums beat faster with your heart, will it escape? Won’t it?

Of course not! What do you think this is? A Hollywood remake?

All the best sounds have unhappy endings, and this is no exception. For
Sightings this track is almost funky, and holds a testimonial of legacy from Throbbing Gristle and Can to Lightning Bolt in its bloody muddy claws.

You know that experiment where they lock you in a room and play white noise at the loudest volume known to mankind (11) at you for days upon end, and then when they take the headphones off you tell them everything? The trick is when you loose all remaining memory of what distance and colour and volume are, then noise becomes ambient. This is fine as long as you like ambient music. If you don’t you’re fucked. Of course if you do like to listen to ambient music for days on end then your fucked already, go see a doctor.

Which doesn’t bring us nicely at all to the next confusing bit.

Andreas Dorau – Strasse der Traume (Dorau & Rossknecht Remix)

Andreas Dorau’s original is like a sophisticated Love to Love You Baby in the way it makes you slightly feel dirty about listening to it.

Its not Lemon Incest dirty, just a feeling of Millie Jackson and Conny Plank getting it on………….um baby. (actually that’s quite sick, and we should stop thinking about hairy tashed Germans and sweaty big black women getting it on before this turns into rodox magazine).

This very lazy remix simply throws the cliched heard it all before old donkey motorik drum pattern over the top of the original which happens to fit perfectly, and makes us wet our pants in excitement. Is it like my birthday or something and someone made a special song for me? The 80s keyboard gets on my tits, but fuck it this is still an exceptional record.

Check out Andreas discogs page for what he has done b4, if I had 10 blogs I couldn’t cover it all (Bungalow, Ladomat 2000, Bpitch Control, Kompakt) speaks for itself.

You can buy this record from Mute here with another remix by Kompakt’s Justus Kohncke

Is Krautrock Loungecore done by boy band gay looking 80s thunderbird puppets a new and upcoming genre then?
