Eurobus hand luggage
First things first an advert:
X-Wife are playing in England (yay!). May it be the first of many appearances.
I cannot urge you enough to go see the live show.
30th May - London, Notting Hill Arts Club with Selfish Cunt
1st June - London, Karma Club, 2-4 Hoxton Square 21:00
2nd June - Brighton, Pressure Point with Selfish Cunt
XXJFG will be at the Brighton show, come say hello!
Next back to Europe…..

J.J.Burnel - Freddie Laker (Concorde & Eurobus)
Lo-cost no frills air flights were not invented by Stavros you know. Freddie Laker was there first.
Laker tried to bring Europeans closer together (but not like Hitler) so The Stranglers bass player and pro-European son Jean Jacques Burnel was obviously up for this and wrote a rapid fire ode to him on his 1979 solo album Euroman Cometh.
Bass player solo albums can be quite wrong but JJ against all odds manages an excellent job.
Freddie Laker is a vocal Dalek army of a track with overtones of glorious choirs singing Radioactivity, and none of the subtlety. We are expecting a cover of this on the next Daft Punk album with Grabba Grabba Tape as guest musicians.

Need New Body, one of XXJFG’s favourites, are crazier than a bottle of potato chips (now that’s a website) and their new album, Where’s Black Ben (limited edition vinyl out in Pickled Egg Records), is splattered all over the place, I think these guys saw lots of Marx bruddas movies when they were kiddos.
Amongst the wacky hip hop, paeans to the hood, freak folk, instrumental chases and sheer noise madness we find this rattling gem of nerdy krautpunk and dissonant guitars which clocks at 2 minutes leaving you in the same place but ready to travel, only one bag so you can check in easy, don’t forget to put that machete in your hand luggage.
Need New Body- Totally Pos Paas
Listen to some more of their stuff at myspace.
We are on holiday at the moment, but this post came back in a postcard.
This one goes out to Thee Tobby Huss, Julie and the rest of the ‘Let’s make Glenn Piano Man cover Straight Outta Compton with his Piano at Komedia’ Platform.

Oh man, I’ve been waiting to hear some new Need New Body for a while, and this track is exactly the kind of hyperactive jam that they do best. They’re having a record release party in Philly this weekend, playing with elements of the Sun Ra Arkestra(!)- should be a blast.

I’ve got the Euroman Cometh album, and honestly don’t remember it being quite this mad, but I haven’t listened to it in about 15 years probably…
Will dig it out tomorrow and give it a blast.
Cheers.
