Song to end summer. Bip bip.

Let’s get down to bizza.

I think that Brooks’ Red Tape was one of the most sophisticated, seductive and slept on (not with as much as it deserved) albums of last year. It came out in Soundslike and sounded like (heh) the English answer to the Soft Pink Truth (they share labels), classy glitchy (male) whore house like you don’t really hear in these parts (everyone is into Electro house, seen?)

I thought Hot Chip was last year’s most overrated outfits (at least in what refers to music I pay any attention to), their stuff just sounded to me like amusing but indistinct excessively safe white boy funk. I couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about.

Well, Hot Chip have gone down on Brooks and maybe I’m gonna have to go back to last year in me time machine and check them out again, cos they have applied their warm wacky synth approach to Roxxy (which I reviewed back in the days before this blog went to the doggy doggs) and it’s quite fantastic actually, they turn the synthglam original into a happy bouncy tropical mini-oddyssey that would suit very well thanks a paradisiac beach.

Brooks- Roxxy (Hot Chip Women of the World remix)

Yep, it rains outside but the sun shines in the music.

(runs away after naff comment)

This is in the Enormous Member Club 12” also released by Soundslike.

Before going to bed I’d like to tip my hat to those two gentlemen jd Twitch and jd Wilkes aka Optimo and say thanks for their awesome session at the Ocean Rooms last saturday (as well as for their hospitality and niceness). It was the perfect end for a rather awesome day (Stu and Tina are the best looking married couple ever, you see)
