Green Blood

A fast one for the party dudes and the party gals.

We at 20JFG have always advocated sexual abstinence as a way of channeling your energies into worthy pursuits such as the development of highly complex imaginary worlds, The Novel or Boxing. Well, now we have Green Velvet on our side! And the guy surely has ammo, a rather vicious techno beat, handclaps, and robbie the robot going on about stuff.

Green Velvet- No Sex

As if the people who’re gonna be dancing to this at 4 O’clock AM were gonna be able to have sex anyway, heh.

This is in Green Velvet’s album, ‘Walk in Love’, a rather banging crazy washing machine style collection of moroderian acid house techno trax that comes out on monday. It has also got a song about people queuing outside the loo cos they are taking drugs.

There’s something for the quality indie dancefloor here too…

Blood on the Wall released one of my favourite let’s get back to the 90’s rock albums of last year, a scattershot (blink blink) of Half Japanese, Royal Trux, Sonic Youth and Pixies influenced lo-fi sexy tunes performed with flair and attitude. Well, they’re back now with ‘Awesomer’, out in the Social Registry soon, and it keeps sounding hysterical, dirty and fun, a bit like sex, whoops we’re sending contradictory messages here.

Make up yr mind, you’re grown ups, aren’t you?

Blood on the Wall excel at creating these low frequency sped up rock jams that when listened on headphones make you walk really fast and sharp like you had something to hide, which is what rock is about isn’t it. Some might argue this rings lotsa bells, but it’s done so well that we’re are so sold.

They’ve got two singers and the boy sounds a bit like jad fair and the gal like Kim Gordon and I love ‘em in different ways cos my heart’s so big and they don’t do any duets together which would in my humble opinion be awwwsome, so we’re posting two short sweet tracks, featuring each.

Blood on the Wall- Gone

Blood on the Wall- Heat of the Day

Yeah, the rest of the album is as good as this, go and buy it man.

And have a nice weekend. By!

(if you are in Brihghton on saturday go and see Shark in the Freebutt!)
