WE AROSE A YEAR AGO!

Featuring:

(we don’t know that girl at all but she insisted on being in the photo and we didn’t want to argue…you can see us behind her)

Well, actually 20JFGs birthday was almost two weeks ago but we forgot, we are busy and stuff.

Oh those days of innocence and server crashes…

After last nite’s postathon I was gonna take a break but then I thought I’d give you a present because it’s a special occasion, there you go, a slice of Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom’s debut, ‘The Days of Mars’, out in DFA records soon.

(This photo of their performance at Kosmische’s birthday was taken by Mark Pimlington and it’s kind of spooky, check out Delia on the left handside. almost a ghost!)

DFA’s remix of ‘Rise’ was the first track I wrote about in this god forsaken place. Was going to go post the original now just to keep up with the whole 20JFG doing things the other way around theme but then I was seduced by…

Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom- Black Spring

(wee long track so quite compressed, sorry!)

I’m too tired to say much about it except…

-Goblin!
-Kraftwerk!
-Giorgio Moroder!
-Kosmische!
-Kosmische!

(Probably should also say ‘Mike Oldfield’ and ‘Vangelis’ but I don’t know enough about them…)

The almost architectural beauty of the synthetic melodies shines in all its hypnotic glory while floating in the beatless (yet rythmic) void, it might be a cliche but Black Spring (and the rest of the album) are begging for a really creepy horror movie with lots of subliminal images and sped up sequences of cloudy skies, the sun finishes its cycle in 13 minutes and that’s a bad number for the night to start.

Recently the ever-ace Molars posted Delia and Gavin’s Relevve as included in the lovely Comes With a Smile comp (the version in the album is very different).

Delia and Gavin are mysterious people, but you can check this message board for some info.

Ok, now, I’m gone, everyone say happy birthday and come to our celebrations on friday and saturday.
