bad acid

Channels 3 and 4 - The Queen demo

One good reason to leave the house is obviously to go see some of the amazing bands on Summer Lovers Unlimited . I think we blogged almost all their artists before we new about the label, so they must have good taste.

The Queen is here and just like most of the Summer Lovers Unlimited it’s total thedoclub dancefloor material. Full of shouty girls, a little like a computer game and as if digital hardcore wasn’t digital all in 1.13 minutes of fun !

With song titles like Christian girls like to get Cut Channels 3 and 4 are probably not going to make it into the NME, so its up to geeks like us to support their noisy danceable splatter of 80s synth punk inspired gems. Channels 3 and 4, we are here to witness for you! Come to England already.

Zsa Zsa Laboum - Something Scary

We have to thank V/Vm for this one, after there recent take on New Beat there is a special microsites with some mixes and samples of tracks from the genre. We have posted plenty of dark wave whatever its fucking called beat and early electronic gubbins in the past, so it takes a bit to please us. This one spoke to me.

So there are 7 tabs in the fridge, they have been there for a long time. I’m waiting for some time portal to transfer me to Leeds with Spacerock Dan calling everyone cats and me convinced he really did think all our friends were of the feline persuasion. I mean why the fuck not? Anyone got a logical proof for any reality or is that an NP-complete problem?

This dark undercurrent synth melody is flowing all the way through Something Scary and could easily be from the evil parts of your Carpenter scapes, I’m pretty sure this should have been played by the old king of goth rave Weatherall at some point, and if it wasn’t then someone hallucinated it was. It’s what you call bad acid. To you and me that’s good. If you google Zsa Zsa Laboum you get Nick Gutterbreakz singing its praise and that’s a good enough recommendation whatever trip your on.

That paranoid intensity is all around it should expect in most acid. Even the obligatory screaming soul vocal is in terror more than any deity induced joy. Paranoia should always be committed to record, but just don’t listen to this when your alone in your room. Enjoy it with your friends, feline or not and it’s sure to make them purr.

Moving away from the fridge before we paint it green and hug it, into the faithful hands of Warped Reality Magazine and their recommendation of Ilitch.

Ilitch - Peripherikredcommando

Now this ones easy listening. As we all know the easiest listening for Spacerock Dan and the cats is The Butthole Surfers, Chrome and early Ween. When you’re this far out it is the only thing that sounds normal.

As the military robot commandos enter the building the paranoia really sets in, but its ok Thierry Muller is the space commando on this alternate take on European punk and new wave. Yeh, its pogoing on helium but with the aroma of Hawkwind kicking its heels on the fridge.

Most of the 1980 album 10 Suicides may be influenced by Stockhausen and Xenakis but this kraut punk track is mildly out of character, I have no idea what was going through their heads and can only blame schizophrenia or spending too long in the studio and needing a little exercise.

toot toot!

It’s good to get out there a bit.

Have a nice weekend everyone, happy birthday to Lucy and Me! Vegan jelly and cakes all round please.
