Slow and filthy, thats the way we like it. HTRK manage to record the missing semi-industrial dirt soundtrack to that Richard Kern film you know he has in the private stash of him and Lydia Lunch getting to ‘know’ each other while watching David Lynch movies.
HTRK share the scent of “this is what you want, this is what you get…” PIL and lipstick of what those in the know call The Glamorous Neu Underground. Tonelessly emotional with metallic percussion and a polluted feedback scowl there is nothing funny about Ha except the way it makes you feel in your pants.
Dripping wet with throbbing gristle….
And for any of you in doubt over whether you can dance to slow, Parisians proved it years ago, and so does Brighton’s own man of schizophrenia Rekid on his new album for Soul Jazz Made in Menorca.

If Renegade Soundwave had been a around a little earlier in the 80s and got working with Bobby Orlando this could have been the future. Imagine hi-energy without the hi, Italo with more erm, lo, the future would be slow. As Daniele Baldelli the original cosmic disco Italian was dropping Klaus Schulze Innovative Communication records on slow and never italo, Rekid is playing glam italo on 33, with interesting results.
Glittering robotic dub never felt so like Quaaludes and I believe they are calling this shit ‘Smack House’. To me it fits perfectly next to last years Motiivi:Tuntematon – 1939 bomb dropping. Give it some space; give it some time to let the sound grow. Absorb the sound like a nice brandy and cigar instead of a redbull and vodka. I want a minute and a half decay on that snare, and no less.
85 Space feels entirely submerged in one long phaser beam washing across your neurons stimulating axons and disconnecting before you even noticed the subspace pulse. Your left wide eyed with Cybernetic Broadcasting System nanobots disseminated into you, and a feel for the glamorous side. Just don’t listen to the voices or you really will dissolve.
But stringing a solitary sound out to create a song is nothing new, as any self-respecting Tangerine Dream fan will tell you (in fact, they tend to string out a number of songs that string out a sound into a 25 minute event that manages to encompass birth, life and death all together in one Kosmiche implosion).

Klaus Schulze’s Irrlicht has just been kindly re-issued by Revisited Records with killer art and an extra track. We only have so much webspace so you’ll have to buy the album to check the incredible 20 minute journeys that sandwich the track below:
Just one sound thats all you need! Its the soundtrack to a landing on Pluto, alien maidens from Space Adventure Cobra are plucking it from chrome harps perched on the ice capped mountains, they bid you into an ice cavern where they give you blue wine and make you live there forever, dancing to Chromatics, Cerrone and Neu!

After they play the ballroom on Mars in 2012 with Glass Candy, Chromatics will eventually make it to the ice caves of Pluto to play the greatest show in the outer solar system. We’ll be there of course, striking elegant poses and getting loud and abusive on blue wine.
Chromatics- The Guest (Album Version)
Much like every other Chromatics track, there are 3 versions of ‘The Guest’ in existence, a CDR demo, a 12″ version on the ‘Nite’ single, and now the album version.
Gone is the minimal doom to be replaced by a different style of minimal doom (thumps and hand claps), then Chromatics bootleg themselves by pinning the tour CDR track ‘Bird Of Paradise’ onto the song. Vocalist Adam has transformed himself into a leather-clad, red-eyed lizard-demon-man, lurking in the shadows and hissing the lyrics to the song at anyone who would dare get close enough to hear them.
Stu says this reminds him of a Bowie b-side circa ‘Low’ period (fuckin’ muso!) which is no bad thing I guess, and while its a shame we don’t get the female vocals from the demo and 12″ versions, its a good indication that Chromatics will release the album of the year come September.
The latest batch of Chromatics mp3s can be found at the myspace page, but check out Daughters Of Invention who have posted ‘Lady’ a Glass Candy/Chromatics collaboration.
