Dance! Music! (Pt 3. remix friends reunited)

Sweet!!

There is a network of 20JFG friends who can do no wrong, and we love their warrm guts. They are spread across the world like subversive cells doing their own thing, working in the corners of the system or wholly outside it, where monetary concerns are tangential and fads the fast blur of some tacky advertisment on the side of the road, you know kids, if you pay to much attention to them you fucking crash.

An implicit principle is: the only stuff worth buying is the stuff that wasn’t produced for sale in the first place. Or, as we have said before, play, record, share as if no-one was listening, Franz Kafka is the man.

Which brings us to the three tunes we are posting today, remixes of or by people we know, who do hot stuff for all the right reasons, perhaps that’s why it sounds so awesome, perhaps it’s also the fact they are talented motherfuckers. These remixes are not lame attempts to reposition sounds in new markets or shit like that, you know, sell 12”, the most prostituted of formats, no, these are DIY reactions to mindblowing music which exist because it’s fun to make them. We love to live and be aware of a world where this stuff happens…

But anyway, there we go.

Infants- Firetruk theme (Drop the Lime remix)

We were lucky to meet Infants rather randomly at Frieze Festival in London a couple of months ago, they are lovely people & hug goes their way dodging toxic clouds, psychotic taxi-drivers and Chelsea football fans. Well, they have made this remix swap thing with Drop the Lime (big up barter!), one of Tigerbeat6’s finest, and here’s the result of the latter having a go at their jerky spazzpunk hit ‘Firetruk theme’.

20Jazzfunkgreats can’t help but wiggle like mice inside a washing machine at the sheer magnitude of the phat bass on top of which Mr The Lime has built the remix, and throw old skool shapes to the incendiary breakdown, yikes, we didn’t even know we liked new wave digital dancehall until we listened to this…We can’t wait to hear the other part of the bargain.

Infants will be releasing a 7” on Tigertrap in January, we’ll keep you posted.

E*Rock is a true renaissance man and one of our favouritest people out there, whenever we get an e-mail from him we know it’s party time, he will refer to Extreme Animals and Yellow Swans in the same sentence, and there’s not that many people out there who do that, which incidentally, kind of covers the broad remit of this little pooterzine of yours…Plus just check his fucking art work, truly inspiring.

Anyway, you might remember we posted Extreme Animals last week, well, after we did he wrote to us saying, hey, check this remix of them I did back in the days. We knew it was going to be…

Extreme Animals- God Jamm (E*Rock Remix)

We were so psyched we replied telepathically saying ‘WOOZERS’, what E*Rock’s done is covering the hardcore (as in dance) punk rave of the original with enough intertwining digital melodies and glitched up noises to make Jackson & his computer band crash, without forfeiting any of the original filthy dancefloor energy, you can have your cake and eat it too, forever, it’s the beauty of binary. Once again, we are in awe, you know it takes a bit to get us, jaded owls, spinning in circles while talking tongues.

Genuine Guy is our man and we love him, we take care of him and he takes care of us, well, besides being a good (TM) person, he also makes all this awesome music, you know, grumpy techno, c86-2 step and ghetto trek, and back in the days he destroyed that famous song Melo do Tabaco by pop baile funk kids Bonde do Role in true handclap prodigious moronic pogo style. We wanted to post it from day zero but then you know that was when every other blogger was doing it and the poor song was about to burn out of sheer ubiquity, so we waited until now, when hip DJs (we hope) have stopped playing it so you can appreciate it in its own sweet terms.

Bonde do Role- Melo de Tabaco (Genuine Guy’s nando’s Charlydorole mix)

Genuine is involved in several projects right now, and will be Djing at one of these secret parties in London next saturday, put by our man Alexis, it’s secret so we can’t tell you where it is, drop us a line if you wanna go, password is Fidelio.
