Slang Teacher
We are the baddest gang of bravos to ever roam the barrio, we watch over from our vantage positions like hawks, on the look out for the fuzz or chingones with enemy colours, nothing happens here without us knowing, and getting paid, nada. This ain’t no explotation thing, we are just taking care of our people, they are our families, mamas, papas, abuelos, hermanas y hermanos, it’s not our fault that we are too strong and impatient for school, church our some shit job at the cornershop, no, we are too proud for that, so we prowl the streets of the hood in our garish colours and shiny red autos blasting musica caliente from the loudspeakers, si algun manito needs something, you know, food, someone is ill, we dish em some cabezas and sort it out, cos we don’t rule or own this place, you can’t rule what you love if you love it de verdad, ya tu sabes hermano, nosotros somos el alma del barrio.
We wouldn’t be where we are without the help of el Bajo, he’s the smoothest motherfucker of them all, mucha clase ese hermano si, slick moustache, tailored suits, camisa de seda and italian shoes, todas las mamitas want to get in his pants but he ain’t no cabron, he’s a gentleman, a caballero, sabes lo que te digo, when we had beef with the puerto-riquenos over at 54th he sorted the peace out organising the biggest block party you have ever seen, para toda la gente, everyone came down, the disco ladies and the jazz cats and abuelos who like salsa, those black kids who talk on top of songs, even some crazy anglo guys from uptown, cerveza gratis, buenos DJs and kinky afros, el Bajo put together a matador soundsystem and we danced til the early morning, not a piece in sight in the whole night, that was one to remember.
20Jazzfunkgreats feels the summer coming, here you have some tunes so you can start practicing your best moves in front of the mirror, gold medallions and white slacks recommended.

Da Posse- Searching Hard (Hula mix)
Da Posse, who featured Maurice Joshua of This is Acid fame go totally nu yorica on your ass in this killer bass infected chi-town disco cruisin’ strut, and we love it with our apopleptic hips, our congested wheezing hearts and our spinning pale heads, this one is not for nerding out, just swing. Originally released in 1989, Searching Hard has recently been reissued by Dance Mania and you should get it here.

Sneak Thief has just put out G-String Orchestra in Klakson, and por mi madre that this is one of the sweetest 12” to come out this year, it includes two sexy pieces of lush disco which sound crisp and warm straight out of the italo oven, and the title tune we’re posting, a stomping cracking synth boogie motherfucker with enough basslines & percussion to keep you throwing shapes til the cows come back home, late we hope. If Phillip Michael Thomas had starred Beverly Hills cop, this would have definitely been the theme tune, natty.
Sneak Thief- G-String Orchestra
Talking about latin class (&Miami Vice styles!), Juan’s homey Fuck Hugo has been totally rocking Berlin for a few years with the Cashmoney Party crew, we go way way back (old sally…) and he’s a great guy, good guy && total star, he’s recorded this fantastic New Beat/Synth/Disco undisco mix (check, vinyl) with his blud T. Keeler, read the tracklist, dload, listen, go wha, get him to play in your party or something, it’s a winner.
