Black Heeled Arabian Disko

We here at this blogpooterzinepage are into weird disco’s, we don’t want normality, odd sounds and backwards hits are the shit for example the remix marriage made in heaven of Liars n’ CC, w00t!, now all we need is Brian Eno to produce The Knife or something and we can call it a day.

In Flagranti & Black Devil Disco Club - Coach Me (Cinematic Mix)

The demon known as Bernard Fevre has been making develish deals with artists, and the best soul that he’s been sold for new remix 12″ ‘Black Sunshine’ and upcoming remix LP ‘In Dub’ comes in the form of In Flagranti.

In Flagranti’s LP, ‘Wronger Than Anyone Else’ kind of passed me by but on reflection its sounds kinda good - they obviously listen to Can but also to Soulwax too. Which makes this Black Devil remix a bit out of character, but all the better, meh? Theres no real beat to speak of, just a collection of odd distortions and rhythms that clatter and reverberate. It has that dark empty wasteland atmosphere, like if the corpses strewn across the ground at the end of The Beyond had leapt up and done some fancy interpretive macabre dance and this was what they had to draw inspiration from.

Using Italian horror as a loose connection (yep, again) we visit the Mirage camp to our favourite musical Italians. Back when Mirage first emerged on MySpace, we got hot for ‘Lake Of Dreams’. Now it comes round again, reformed and remodeled:

MiRAGE - Lake Of Dreams (2OO7 Demo)

Less death-funk than the previous incarnation, more colourful and psychedelic with liquid-synths and vocodered mannequin vocals, like the perfect soundtrack to the image above - robot death by fashion bitch’s heel. The sound is reflected off of Glass Candy’s crystals but in the shadow of the Chromatics vampires, hence our adoration.

Out soon on Italians Do It Better 12″, because Italians do do it better.

Doing it not neccessarily better but just as good are the French. Turzi released a hot blue 7″, ‘Seven Inch Allah’, recently on Record Makers, with the stop/start Goblin-a-like shivering zombie track ‘Amadeus’ (get it from Music (For Robots) while you still can). The LP is out soon, here is a taste:

Turzi - Acid Taste

An Acid taste no less, burning your tongue with its sharp and fizzy Arabian dancing synth wobbles. Every track on the LP ‘A’ begins with the letter A which would be kind of lame if it wasn’t so good, drawing influences from Can, Goblin, Eno and Soft Machine but injecting it all with Israelian atmospherics. He seems to have snake-charmed label mates Arpanet’s electronic equipment away too. The final track rules, like the closing theme to ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ if it had been a Bollywood epic WOW!

Blast from yesterday

The remix of Liars by Crystal Castles we posted yesterday was an earlier remix, here you have an updated file, you should download it again now to enjoy its 8-bit horror disco thrills in all their polygonal glory.
