disco-craft

In these dark days of massive corporate oppression from record companies that literally think they own the Earth and its Moon, its somewhat sweet and humbling to receive a CDR that has been handcrafted with artworks and tracks by the artist themselves. Championing the little guys is better!

This particular CDR that we are speaking of is by Professor Genius, and features all the tracks from upcoming 12″s and past and present myspace player content. Think of the Professor as a pyramid-dwelling Alexander Robotnick clone-bot with the hardwiring of the main CPU from the car from Knight-Rider that was then fed on a silicon diet of Moroder programming. Neat.

Professor Genius - Orange Coco

‘Orange Coco’ takes the electro route and kind of bypasses the italo worm-hole. ‘Heart Of Glass’ percussion is wrapped up in spacedust melodies until an almost 9O’s rave synth line creeps up to accompany the Giorgio Moroder circa “E=Mc2″ era robotic Bee-Gees vocals. The keywords here are stutter, bounce and shimmer.

Purchase this fine CDR (limited to 3OO) from here, and also check out an exclusive mix by Professor Genius at the lovely 24:Hours blog. Wait with baited breath for the ‘Pegaso’ 12″ from Disques Sinthomme and more 12″s from Italians Do It Better.

Talking about hand-made treasures and lovely people, we saw Extreme Animals in London last night OMFG, but we’ll go into that next week, when we have had a chance to absorb the goodness off that wealth of gifts they bestowed upon us, right now I guess we might as well continue strutting down the smooth corridors of the disco for a bit longer following the steps of that very natty gentleman Lee Douglas, he knows we’ve got an illness for which there’s only one possible cure,

MORE COWBELL

He snaps his fingers

Lee Douglas- Ramv

…and we do the beheaded dance chicken in a not-very-cool yet rather endearing way, very healed oh yes.

Ramv is the B-side of his epic New York Story 12” released by the classy fellers at Rong, and it blinds us with cosmic science like a constellation of stars trapped inside a crystal disco ball spinning over New York’s downtown circa 1977 as lovingly replicated on vinyl by skilful gold-ring clad fingers: dope latin percussive spells to make the dancefloor coil & twitch in a sexy snakepit shuffle suddenly erupting into Argentian stab dance with the flip of a psyche drama synth, there’s enough shizz going on in this side to turn even the dullest of indie boys out there into a true disco believer, at least we hope so since we need a big sweaty audience for the sassy cosmic synth joint we’re planning to start sometime soon, bonza.
