General Motorik
This particular species of feral psychedelic rock requires air like fire, big expanses of blue space against which it ‘hurls itself with sickening force’, no resistance encountered so it keeps lurching forward into a sonic vanishing point it never quite reaches, there’s no end to the music but an arbitrary break which is why it only makes final sense live, where exhaustion and not running time in its support media, how inappropriate, dictates the end of the trip. Put this expansive spirit in an urban environment and it’d hit the city walls in two seconds, there you have punk, or it falls in love, it keeps fixated on the concrete (in more than a sense) instead of drawing patterns into the abyss, thesis, you need Space (and Time) for psychedelia. I think that this association explains why most of this savage road movie rampage pulsating rock music comes from the USA, long grey roads criss crossing beautiful landscapes of blankness under a neverending skydome you paint with angels, devils and ghosts, step on the accelerator least they catch you, it also explains the obvious connection to german motorik, it’s an autobahn thing innit?

Wipers were one of Kurt Cobain’s fave bands, he had some wicked taste Kurt Cobain, he could have written for 20jazzfunkgreats. Anyway, yeah, they are totally just awesome, sit on the anthemic hardcore passenger seat of the title track which closes their 81 album, a metronomic furious throb cutting across the clouds of political confusion, Eternal Riffs of Pure Ascending Power drop from the sky like Husker Du were playing punk tetris with your soul, have you ever seen a storm raging far away in the plains? Wipers are it.
First listened at Art for Spastics, incandescent respect for Dj Rick.

I have always appreciated the long burning viciousness of legendary hardcore metal beasts Fucked Up although, when in THAT mood I prefer faster and shorter stuff, say the berserk belting of people like Municipal Waste…Well, change of gears here,’Age of the Pig’, included in their new 12”, goes somewhere else, somewhere beautiful and ugly and dark and mindblowing I can only struggle to define, what about conceptual psyche stoner metal disco opera about violence against women, as Dan says, it’s got even movements, or NEU!, Black Flag, Black Mountain and Young People rendezvousing with Valerie Solanas on a motorway cafe and going on some sort of ultra-violent revolutionary rampage across the plains which ends with the archetypical Thelma and Louise situation only they fucking FLY over the abyss like Noise Pterodactyls.
You just need to buy the record & purify your soul, it’s definitively one of the most impressive things I’ve heard this year.
NOW TONIGHT TUESDAY GO TO THESE BIG PARTY DROP THE LIME /CURSES! AKA FUCKING RULINGDOM**SO LOUD! 20JFG SPANK DA NI NI WOOOOO NI DI DI DI DI WO WO, erm,
PUNK
