when Heroes attack

Planningtorock is a beautiful female counterpart to Frankenstein’s monster. She’s a Victorian Cassette Playa. She is a white and beige witch from the dusty woods of Ganymede. She is the furious force of mother nature to planet Jupiter. She is an alien priestess dressed in silken gowns and a bonnet made from the happy faces of her followers. She landed on Earth in a meteor shower, striking the ground in a green comet that then cracked open like a giant egg and she slid out shrouded in holographic velour. She looked up toward the sky as it rained points of fire and flashed phosphorous green and blue in the spectacle of the storm. She parted her lips, drew a breathe and as she exhailed her sweet music coiled out from her throat in the form of incantations written in alien glyphs resembling dragonflies. The gathering of onlookers who stood around the crashed comet egg were spun into a frenzy of interpretive dance and animal sound mimicry.

Planningtorock - Happy Time

‘Happy Time’ tells a tale of cosmic childhood, guzzling Kool-aid, playing about with G.I. Joes and fighting the imaginary alien menace through time, all this floating over piano flourishes and horn stanzas. Planningtorock clones herself into a Wicker Man styled barbershop quartet as the track spins from her throat. The glyphs are translated to 7″ vinyl by the peeps at Brainlove where it sits with fellow alien princesses Bishi, Anat Ben-David and Japanese Intelligence Mind Control.

Liars are the ultimo wizard gods of the Neo-Pagan age. When we are all done with scurrying around our concrete hells with our jobs, DJ nites and picking up Vice magazine from American Apparel, we will retreat to the forests and revert to skankin’ caveman status once again. Banging bison leg bones to a steady and constant beat the masters, Liars, orchestrate the construction of the great obelisk that will signal to Angus’ alien forefathers that they are cleared for landing. What joy it will be when they return amid a festival of Neolithic rave, Liars pounding great neon animal skin drums and wailing mantras backwards through bird bone megaphones.

Liars - Mimic The Hurricano

This idea of world dominance began with the forest spells whispered down dark alleyways on They Were Wrong and Drums Not Dead, and now with the new ‘Liars’ album we get the rhythmic walls of guitar/synth/drum-echo feedback toppling in on waves of emotions, it cements the love that we have for them. ‘Mimic The Hurricano’ appears on the single release for ‘Plaster Casts of Everything’ and its a precursor to the coming Liars apocalypse that we spoke of above, or, they found the GARGOYLE JAMBOREE RAVE button on the synthesizer and held they’re finger down on it until it was stuck, welded by the blistering heat.
