American indie hell yeah! Pt. 1

And when we say indie we mean real deal indie, not corporate sponsored revivalist shit indie ‘music’ that people who like to jump into bandwagons end up geting laid to because that’s what people do, ah, the humanity!

I am going to make a few posts with new US bands together with old stuff which sounds similar or shares the spirit, now that’s influences reincarnating like the grinning ghosts of shiny-eyed maniacs taking over hearts and minds with sweet tunes and the energy of a youth which doesn’t understand, what would be the point if it did?

Post #1 keywords- cassette tapes that sound like crap because of too much playing in the darkness of the suburbia night & trips down to this venue where all the cool bands play, vertigo inducing riffs imploding on stage like black holes in strippy socks laying in a corner of the room absorbing energy negating gravity and vanquishing matter into parallel universes of teenage heroism.

Redd Kross make me think of torn jeans, badly applied makeup, long hair and a shameless uncontrived glam long haired head bumping its hyper-developed temple against a hard wall graffitied with cheap metal tags, wailing in drunken pain beautiful melodies of glorious beauty that could have only come from crazy visionaries raised on a diet of trash, in that sense they remind us of Royal Trux, one of the best bands that ever existed, and we salute them for it.

Redd Kross- Janus, Jeanie and George Harrison

Neurotica sounds like the screams of the girl who falls in the barbed wire pit in Suspiria, if only it was full of guitar strings and located inside Captain Spaulding’s Museum of Monsters and Madmen. Jump in, you know you wanna.

Thedeathset (myspace) enter the house like Ninja Turdles ready to smash the face of the decepticons and despair ninjas, beaming with similar incandescent riotous anthemic energy, the bubblegum spirit of other glowing stars of the DIY underground such as Best Fwends or Dan Deacon shines strong in the hearts and eyes of these kids as they dispel negativism and defeatism with their bis-powered drum machines in another demonstration of uplifting party politics. Fucking A, get their stuff here.

Thedeathset- Negative Thinking

Thedeathset might be coming to the UK next year, and are looking for dates, hit the kids at Tape This! if you think you, or a friend can help in this worthy endeavour.

Oh, we started a new club with the mighty Do commandoes, it’s called 13 Monsters which as you know is a Lightning Bolt party belter and stands proud for what we want to do, add us on the myspace, and get ready for some surprises.
