There is a recording of a great version he does of Neil Diamond's 'Girl You'll Be a Woman Soon', made famous to my generation by Urge Overkill's version in Pulp Fiction. Before the vocal comes in he lets rip with an orgasmic 'aah'...

I bumped into Cliff around five years ago outside my flat in Manchester city centre. There he was, tanned, tanned jacket to boot, I was stood face to face to him in the street and quickly mustered up the overly-enthusiastic greeting of 'Safe Cliff!!', to which he grinned amiably, winked, and strolled on. I was retelling that story only yesterday...always a good one for prospective inlaws...

I worked at his 'Summer nights' gigs at Warwick Castle a few years back also, and Wired for Sound was the encore each night. There are lots of covers of this song. I like one by Biftek2020 an australian electronic group.

Thankyou x

HOLY SMOKES. I heard a shitty indie-rock band cover "Wired For Sound" years ago, but I never knew it was a cover--Cliff never got much play on this side of the pond, you see. And to me it seemed as if this pack of no-hope douchebags had somehow managed to write one single perfect pop song (which they then proceeded to fuck up in the execution, of course).

Now my eyes, they are opened, and my mind, SHE IS BLOWN.
