Iggy wasn’t a rolling stone

The Stooges knelt in front of the bloated body of rock and roll, as if to give it that blowjob it very much expected, and while doing so slid a switchblade from the back of their leather jeans and, with one fluid flick of the wrist, severed its femoral artery and watched it bleed & spasm while cackling maniacally, the reverberations of their holy madness stretch to this day as these two covers of excellence demonstrate, sho’ nuff!

Titmachine’s cover of ‘I Wanna be Your Dog’ is a death-head of a cover, a radioactive beast guided by radar vibrations of green goo advancing in your direction, simultaneously falling to pieces and indestructible, sick with the mechanic lunacy of The Normal, strapped with a bandolier of explosives mercilessly precipitating towards detonation like some doomed version of Robby the Robot built by a feral pack of Dutch No Wave gal commandoes with the attitude of the Mo-Dettes bike-chain toting latino gang sisters, that beeping you hear is a measure approximating your distance to final dissolution, a racket which steps with purity of intent inside the white-heat twilight zone of nihilism infecting the immortal original.

Ch3×4 have always stood for the rabid spitting muscular & deranged sort of racket the Stooges first delivered with razor-sharp intensity, even as they spilled left right and centre wasted on a cocktail of drugs enough to turn a small American village into the setting of George A. Romero’s the Crazies.

This cover of 1970 is but proof, a sax & spazz freak boogie party monster dominated by a gloriously revolving/ rightfully revolting colossus of a synth drone which comes across like Suicide being decimated by the rotor blade of a Huey chopper, all of you weirdo types starved of Les Georges Leningrad style free synth blitzkrieg jams, sate your hunger and get down for a tribal stomp on the bloodsplattered dancefloor, Ch3×4 are taking care of the proceedings, the proceedings are unfolding according to plan, and the plan was drawn with a machete on the back of a Napa Valley warden.

so glad ch3+4 recorded this cover!

i remember them playing it for new years eve, a few years ago. such a good song

it’s pretty hard to do a stooges cover that does the material justice.. they obviously know how to rock it though

I think Titmachine are a very fun band.

    They are a skiffle band.

    They rcock very hard.

No there’s no getting around it – I popped me Titmachine cherry on the right night (De Student, Brussels, May 8th 2006) and they were great.

But imagine being in the Band and married to the fecker – where are such woman heroes constructed – how/why do they endure!?!)

I remember at de Student, when they really went wild on the encore – especially the last tune – which none of the resident aficionados could put a name too which just rampaged off into an extended psychedelic wig out – and off they went – with zero words of the audience or acknowledgement of the rows of pogo-ing middle aged Youths. It was ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’

    Proper order.
