20jazzfunkgreats is not particularly vocal regarding marijuana advocacy causes, perhaps because we associate such concept with unsavoury images such as ‘Bob Marley posters on student flats’ or ‘White rastas talking jive’, you know how it is for us, if it ain’t laser sharp it ain’t happening.

On the other hand we love the impeccably curated Supersound ‘Cloud’ re-issue series, and we acknowledge the influence of dub and reggae in many of the musics we like, plus Bass Culture is excellent. Anyhow, its second issue of the aforementioned series contains this super-rare tune by Rasta high priest Peter Tosh, dealing with the topic of legalisation, which you might consider a bit of a cliché, but is delivered with such heart-rending intensity, and over such an awesome backdrop of Loose Joints-style frantic tropical disco you can’t but help and get down delighted, hey, if all those cosmic disco wizards are total stoners, well, then this is the source.

If you don’t like the instrumental work-out which closes the tune you can’t be our friend.

The arpeggiated synths start tickling the back of your neck and you can almost feel deft fingers of disco sorcerer pulling down the curtains of the night so that its phantasmagoric inhabitants can seduce you with their siren voices, Mr. Moxie’s Run Disco Run is a laid back killer that follows the dramatically mellow ways of the summer, music to walk down a beach turning of silver and marble as the mighty orange orb surrenders to the temptations of darkness, anything can happen as the relentless surf strokes your feet with its eternal reverberations.
