BCR, I can tell you that these bands are indeed lo-fi by necessity. Maybe not TNV anymore now that they are on Matador…but they definitely started out that way.

no i agree.. maybe i’m just of the opinion that there are so many options available that it seems inconcievable that anyone would want their music to sound like total shit for “aesthetic” reasons. hey i LOVE the gnarled noisy garbled audio belch of TG just as much as i LOVE me some of that smooth n’ silky lite steppin’ jazz funk of someone like level 42.
the sound palette of our age is diverse enough even for our “garage” dwelling friends to pull from it and destroy what they wish!

BCR, this stuff sounds natural and good to me, just because technology advances it doesn’t mean everything else should.
