Total Eclipse of the Drone

oneohtrix

Imagine a square with the image of the skies above as seen from outside the distorting fuzz of our protecting atmosphere. A two dimensional picture of the leftovers of God own party, scraps and crumbs, bubbles and smoke. Add a third dimension and transform this square into a cube which you rotate playful like a bedazzled child attempting to solve the final puzzle. Apply a diamond sharp razor to this cube and slice it into layers you can subsequently analyse in further detail. Make sure you cut across the surfaces of the planets suspended in this cube, each time you do this you reveal that shining jewel which is the molten core of each planet, bristling with magma. Collect such cores in a surface of velvet black, and bind them together with golden thread driven by the sharpest needle. Give this necklace to your darling and watch her dance under the sun to a song that goes a little bit like this.

Oneohtrix Point Never- Hyperdawn

Oneohtrix Point Never has a new album out, it’s called Zones without People and it’s the closest you are going to get to zero-G without paying shitloads of money to some mercenary rocket crew operating from the barren Russian taigas.

(Ahhhh Tommy Boy)

There is something happening in Philadelphia, if you need any proof just check the Dis-Adelphia comp freely available from Badmaster Records, including tunes by our faves Reading Rainbow and U.S. Girls, astonishing King Kong Ding Dong (we’ll write something about them soon) or Serpents of W.I.S.D.O.M. Memes have some tricks down their sleeve too, Small sounds as if Fever Ray shacked up with Espers in the wild forests of the North, and, every night, sat on the snow to watch the clear sky waiting for the aurora borealis reveal all its dirty secrets. Which it did. It finishes too quickly, but then, isnt’t that the case with all good things?

  2. The Memes’ track reminds me of Thurston Moore’s ‘Psychic Hearts’, which isn’t a bad thing to be reminded of, at all.
