Afrofuturistic Interdimensional Entertainment News (part 1)

Featuring:

DJ Rashad & Extrol

Greetings fellow transdimensional beings and welcome to this evening’s installment of the Afrofuturistic Interdimensional Entertainment News, brought to you in association with LightSPEED ‘liquid energy’ buzz capsules. It’s the 7th portion of the 243th anisphaer, and if you’ve just joined us, here is a quick recap of today’s top stories.

Jeno Scrarisia, one of the members of Geraxian-Disco act ‘The Scrarisia brothers’ was arrested today in what police called ‘ a shocking act of brotherly discombobulation’.  According to eyewitness reports, an argument broke out between the highly volatile brothers whilst on the Prophaxis Nebula leg of their tour. This quickly escalated into a scuffle during which Jeno drew his photon pistol and fired squarely at his brother Simo’s face, pausing only to smile for the crowd of amassing paparatzzi who were attracted over by the scuffle (pictured). Simo suffered mild burnages to the face and a bruised ego, but doctors say he will make a full recovery.

This is not the first time the 2 brothers, responsible for continuum-wide hits such as ‘You give me the Jetpack’ and ‘The Girl with 3 of Everything’, have hit the headlines with thier sibling bust-ups. Their many high profile spats have earnt them the unfortunate title of ‘The Gallagher brothers of the Quasron-Hoxo Sector’.

Jeno Scrarisi was released on bail pending trial by a Pescitari Jury. The future of the band is uncertain.

Profiteering-Warmonger-of-the-Xadrant-quadrant-turned-Popstar, Karg the Unfaithful courted controversy today after his performance on peaceful agriculture-moon, Hadron-5. Fans of Karg who attended the concert were shocked to see him wearing what appeared to be a replica uniform of the former Hadraci regime, a brutal fascist dictatorship who ruled the planet for over 100 cycles, and whose symbolism is now very strictly banned from ever being shown in public.

His stage costume, consisting of a head to toe leather uniform and pink armband , was almost identical to the one worn by the former regime’s foot soliders. He even wore the same pair of infra-red goggles worn by former dictator AKK-u-Didac. Defending his actions through the Telepathic social networking device he said ‘man what the fuck I can’t wear myself a pink armband on stage, I’m just trying to express myself, these Hadronians are waaaay too sensitive’. Later on, after hostility towards him rose further, he added ‘if these fools don’t like it they can taste the full wrath of my planet removal laser’.

The incident is currently being investigated by Hadronian officials. And now for this week’s new releases reviewed by Spambot 20-JFG.

OK here’s the real news. Planet MU‘s summoning of Chicago Jukemeisters onto UK wax through the Stargate of their unstoppable label continues unabated. This time with one of the scene’s undisputed lords DJ Rashad and his Itz Not Rite EP.

DJ Rashad – Teknitianz

Teknitianz beats down the door to our disco with a 93 Jungle bassline in accapella, but as the dust settles and we expect execution by snare rush, we instead float away on the wings of varicolor sprites left over from the commodore 64 film tie-in franchise game of Hitchcock’s Birds. A little bit more straight ahead than some of the younger abstractions of DJ Nate or DJ Elmoe, but still ramping the syncopation into a +6 cerebral setting, pushing accents into place you dreamed they’d never go and offering us a true afrofuturist vision that requires no ridiculous costumes or outlandish plots to make stick (although we dig both of these things too).

You can pre-order it here.

Almost 30 years its senior and sounding just as fresh, Extrol by E.S.P comes with scant info. Which in it’s own way is a good thing because, like the DJ Rashad we get to project our own rabid fantasies all over it.

E.S.P – Extrol

To us ‘extrol’ sounds like it was made to soundtrack some kind of booty-controlled analogue rodeo where Meccano cowboys straddle laser cattle whilst a toothless android yokel beats on a plastic cowbell in a plastic log cabin nearby. OK yes we actually now nothing about this record other than what it says on the label, but we do know that there is a patch cable feeding across time from this to Booty/Ghettotech/Juke and we thought it relevant to share with you today. Have a listen, see what you think? Pick up from discogs only.

More news after the film.
