Antiguo Autómata Mexicano’s ‘Speed’ narrates the grievous spiritual journey of a civilisation of transcendental beings under attack from a cosmic virus that is chaos, unity in slavery, and never-ending hunger.
This journey starts with the realisation of the severity of the threat, followed by the grim decision to face it with whatever weapons can be crafted in a short period of time, the manufacture of such weapons, and their deployment in a battlefield which is not quite within this reality, but a parallel post-singularity one. It never ends.
It plays like a slowed-down, codeine laced real-time strategy video game with a 9-dimensional isometric view, time-travel infiltrations, and light effects that had to be censored least your eyes explode, and your brains liquefy. The artwork looks like the Warrior Standing at the End of Time by Hawkwind.

Go get Chez Nobody EP (which alas, doesn’t include this)
We have been visiting at OCTAVIUS’ album, Laws. It is a desolate and grandiose place, like the fractured manor of a brooding super-villain somewhere in between Citizen Kane, Scott Walker and Rammellzee.
And how does our protagonist spend his sleepless nights?
He crafts forlorn worlds.
And how does he do this?
Let’s gaze over his hunchbacked figure, into the screen of a Giger Mainframe where he manipulates a custom AutoCAD with necromantic gestures, every instruction summoning a symphony of creaks and churns from the Difference Engine under the hood. Computing nightmares ain’t easy.
A crown of thorns rises from barren grounds, an architecture of solitude that grafts East Berlin and Gotham. Faceless crowds animated by an erratic AI swarm its vast Haussmanian boulevards, invigilated by cybernetic Marias staring blindly from sacrilegious skyscrapers.
OCTAVIUS designs a hunting ground for gothic gods, a bit of practice before things get real.
