Recently we have been delivering quite a few mixtapes into the blogosphere via this portal. This has both delighted and dismayed some of you, dear readers. The delight, we are happy to hear, is from your enjoyment of the mixtapes. The dismay is from our probably rather mean habit of making you guess the tracklist in the comments.
This post should bring you some light relief on the tracks featured in the The old dark matter whistle test mixtape from 22nd October.

Happiness is an odd thing to try and measure. Social bonds are another, but the two are related. Something people believe to pre-date religion, politics, sport and even language as a form of social bonding is the shared ceremony of dance. Rainbow Arabia obviously believe this too, and try and promote it in their tribal Moroder of Sequenced. It’s a ceremony we very much approve of.
Sequenced is from Boys and Diamonds on Kompakt records.

Minimalism has always been something we have struggled with at xxjfg. Sticking to a few sentences, a single metaphor, one style of music in a post – although we admire the concept – it is a battle we lost a long time ago in a multi-verse far far away. Pink Skull are also rather bad at this on their eclectic album Psychic Walfare. Lets take a look at Mu. It features understated funk that would make Nile shake his booty, radiophonics that would not be unwelcome on Ghost Box, and a saxaphone solo that would fit into Lost Boys – this is some undeniable broad listening taste combined into a mismatched jem. Another case of it shouldn’t work, but it does.
Mu is from Psychic Welfare on RVNG INTL

We end today’s broadcast with a track from ex-flat mate of Brian Cox, xxjfg stalwart and our constant space comander Sir Robert Calvert – come on everyone, sing along!
Robert Calvert – Storm chant of the Skraelings
Epilogue -This post is tagged with Kompakt RVNG

Ah, you’re tricky. All 3 tracks here are in the “old dark matter whistle test” mixtape.
If you’re taking requests for unnamed tracks from “slower than light”, what’s the pastoral acoustic mumbly one after Love & Rockets? It’s lovely.
Yours sincerely
