An arpeggio is the three notes of a chord played separately and in sequence, rather than at the same time. You can do this on pianos, guitars, harps, or any other instrument. In early monophonic synths and video game music, arpeggios were a workaround for the hardware limitations of only having one available oscillator (which meant only one note could be played at a time, so no chords). But microchips can play arpeggios faster and meaner and more precisely than human hands can on pianos, guitars, harps or any other instrument. Somewhere down the line, it stops sounding like three separate cycling notes and starts to feel like a wound being stitched in the fabric of time.

For some reason, when you dance to a clattering 909, and you’ve got that lazer-matrix of notes strobing around your ears, your head phases out from the rhythm-slave cage of your body. You become susceptible, hypnotised. It may be gauche, but trance is called trance for a reason, ya know?

Dante and Pilgrim knows this, and so it’s probably just as well that the sub-lingual gibberish Golden Teacher are ranting over the top of this most nastiest, most unforgiving arpeggio that sometimes sound like French and sometimes sounds like broken machinery and sometimes just sounds like drunken belches from the vortex is mostly indecipherable. Who knows what the fuck they could be commanding us to do? Derren Brown has nothing on this electronictotalmindandbodycontrolmusic (Etm&BcM).

What we do know is each time Dante and Pilgrim ended, the withdrawal had us smacking the play button again and again like labrats. This particular narcotic was supplied to us by Optimo, and tested on us first (they haven’t even let anyone else hear it yet!!).
