On a primordial sea that stretches into the searing magenta horizon of the world’s end, a galleon constructed from the bones of nameless creatures long forgotten glides aimlessly, at times towards the apocalypse skyline and sometimes towards the distant mountain ranges of forbidden countries. From the cargo bay of this vast deathly freighter, Oneohtrix Point Never operate their lo-fi label of epic medieval robot & molten lava music – Point Never.

Infinity Window – Internal Compass

Infinity Window hail from a time before the big bang, when everything was just dust slowly merging into a particle storm that would then spark existence in a supernova crescendo of infinite swirling light, the beginning of something endless and beyond understanding. With every vibrating oscillatory gesture of the synths, new worlds are formed and destroyed.

At the end of the world, after dropping off the edge of the ocean, a miasmic plain of magenta pierces its way into your screaming soul and slick black tendrils snake around your limbs pulling you into a burning light of sinister warmth where all knowledge is bestowed upon you via your third eye before your grand cosmic death.

Smycken – Waterworld

Lo-fi label no.2, Psychic Malmö, weave searing/serene krautrock 2.O across humble cdrs. Newly released and self-titled Smycken album, goes down the serene route via an underwater system of connected caves where crystals embedded in the lichen covered rocks resonate a sound so pure and regally avant garde. “Waterworld” flays the skin of Manuel Göttsching across a backdrop of a blue and black battleground to later be used as a macabre flag waving atop a crumbling enemy fortress.

In keeping with the universal drone of Point Never and Psychic Malmö, we continue to that by now over-subscribed boarded up house in the dark woods, the one that Steve Moore splattered oily demon’s blood across and CFCF graffitied obscene images of sexually perverted synths writhing in some ancient Mayan dance routine. For Volume 4 the guys from Anticon pay a visit, bringing with them a slashed up swaggering schizo mix by Subtle, a doom-electro mix by Telefon Tel Aviv and Odd Nosdam’s field recording of a building being demolished by the soundsystem of the death metal club residing in the basement. The pick of the bunch for 2OJFG’s ears is the reworking from Lucky Dragons.

Genghis Tron – Endless Endless (by Lucky Dragons)

Lucky Dragons pull Klaus Schulze’s synths backwards through a vacuum of mirrors, then they prey silence for the coming of the vocoder-overlord before a procession of Swarovski drummer-boys dressed as Clockwork Orange droogs stride past in a pulsing fanfare of dazzling violence.

One of the 20JFG crew shall be playing a few records at the Top Nice Late Night Special on Friday, you should come as it’s going to be totally awesome.

Previously, not a million weeks ago, we “reported” on the first volume of the Genghis Tron mix 12″s with Steve Moore reanimating “Board Up The House” for full invasion of the brain munchers disco shimmy effect. Volume 2 is set for a November release on Lovepump United with Tobacco soaking the corpse of “Relief” in a screamo-psychedelic acid bath, Circle wrapping “Recursion” up in Vangelis-ian reverb with vagabond soothsayer vocals and Dntel ushering in a new dawn on the surface of Jupiter with a remix of “The Feast/Ergot”.

Genghis Tron – Recursion (CFCF Remix)

We dig the CFCF remix of “Recursion” the most. Mainly due to the fact that at times it sounds like the instrumental version of Carly Simon’s “Why” if Crystal Castles had written it while their aggro switch was turned off (think “Magic Spells”). This mix takes place in a desert of snow, the glacial synths gliding freeform through the air tracing the outline of bulbous glass vases filled with sparkling wonderment. In a steady sequence these vases shatter with explosive crystalline force and regroup to form skeletal cobwebs in the sky.

I don’t know who Rubberroom is, and to be frank I don’t have the time or the inclination with which to do the research, soz, thats the truth, but it follows the excellent edits released last year by Disco Devil.

Rubberroom – Take Me

In the same way that the Brennan Green edit of Tom Tom Club’s “On The Line Again” worked so well by only enhancing the best parts and lengthening everything so the goodness lasts longer, Rubberroom turns “Take Me To Your Heart” by The Eurythmics into a decadently baroque slow disco 12″ Extended Mix for blue-lit basement dancefloors full of jaded skinny young things who like a good march. The tempo has been reduced and a few simple tones underneath the central core of the track adds heart piercing tension, making it sound like Joy Division if Ian Curtis had been a girl who only listened to Krautrock and Martha & The Muffins b-sides.

Its Zombie Apocalypse time again at 2OJFG! But this time the doomed hero of the story is you, trapped in an abandoned building in a wasteland town, ruined by the hordes of the undead. As this song progresses through time into beatific pale-skinned calypso horror, the boney fingers of the walking corpses are outstretched to claw at the damp wood of the flimsy door that separates them from you. As sludge-disco synths crash into 80′s fuzz-guitar, they break through, silhouetted by a mysterious blue light from the hallway behind. You see the dim glint in the hungry undead eyes, hear the expectant groans from dead throats as they lunge forward, the stench of putrid flesh and liquefied entrails hits you before yellowed teeth sink in…

An alien presence created the sounds you are about to hear. It floated through a seemingly endless space until the pull of Earth bought it into our midst. Once here, it crept through the underground away from prying eyes where it could grow strong, silently amassing its collective forces until a full scale invasion of spherical flaming blue light rose from the depths to snatch away countless victims who’s brains were drained of emotion to become mere pawns in the extraterrestrial being’s dark design of slavery.

Cobra Cut – Night Prism

This beautiful piece of synth orchestration comes from Cobra Cut, who create italo disco from the 10th circle of Hell where all the disco dollies who died of coke overdoses end up.

Board up the house, for out of the shadowy miasma comes the thing. Not the horde of undead you were dreaming of before, but a dreaded new force that cannot easily be removed from existence with a simple bullet to the cranium. As the looming terror from Steve Moore’s remix of Genghis Tron strikes icicle points of fear in your heart you can hear the oozing evil squeezing through the cracks in the boards across the windows and doors, pooling on the floor in front of you, a slick black menace of misshapen damnation, it contorts into mangled sharpened talons and flies forward in a flash of blackened death.

It’s next week on October 14th and it’s being held at the very nice bar/art space Supreme Trading which is located at 213 N. 8th Street, just off of Bedford Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If you live in the NYC area and you want to hear the usual mix of horror soundtrack synths, feral disco, transcendental tribal noise, gold plated hummer jams, and the doomiest remix of a Britney song ever made, then by all means come down and shake bones. The vibe of this post is the following: last night you came to this cabin in the woods with your friends, you thought it would be fun to spend a weekend in the woods. But the fun is over. They are all dead. And you are trapped inside the cabin with a pump action shotgun, three bullets and a rusty kitchen knife while the Kandarian ghouls await for the sun to set. Dead by Dawn. Dead by Dawn. There are bits of your friends spread all over the lounge. Shadows rotate through spaces in your makeshift barricade as the sun comes down and the gnarly fingers of the night spread over the woods bringing a whole universe of bad vibes to bear upon you. Evil things are going to happen. But there is no fucking way you are going to hell after this, you have already been through it.

Whatever happened to Sam Raimi? Good title for a song. Bring it on.

Danava- The Emerald Snow of Sleep

We told you about Danava ages ago, one of them used to play in Glass Candy, it’s a Portland thang. Anyway, their new album, UnonoU, out in Kemado now, is a fucking potent brew as the tune above surely demonstrates: an arpeggiated synth drone that would make Zombi salivate opens way to the four horsemen of Stoner rock apocalypse which charge onwards riding a bassline straight out of Lemmy powered Hawkwind, Cimmerian rifferama and even King Crimson horns for that extra bombastic star-shattering oomph, this is surely music to soundtrack the emergence of some kind of megalithic Jungian archetype hidden in our cells, the Cosmic Man wakes up in the first chapter of Genesis as written by Michael Moorcock, and plays a session of guitar hero against the Universe, and wins, this is one tune we would love to play in a boombox sitting on the back of a silver Pegasus flying over the plains of Death Valley as dawn spreads over the Earth, heavy like the wind kids, heavy like the wind.

Genghis Tron’s new album, which goes by the very excellent and inspirational name of ‘Board Up The House’ (we know what they mean) and is released by our fave chums Lovepump is prog paranoid epic in the same way in which going on a trip through the Appalachia accompanying a pack of loaded mentalists with an unhealthy passion for grindcore, The Fucking Champs and Goblin would be epic. You know the sort, peaceful looking types with a funny glimmer in their eyes who stare enthralled into kaleidoscopic images of wild flowers for what feels like an eternity (cue some nice classical music) while they potter around with a hand of serrated knives getting ready to perform an interpretative dance to Raining for Blood like this was a Liars video or something.

Kinda edgy.

Imagine Scooby Dooby Doo’s mystery wagon crashing into a Night of the Living Dead keg party and you are sort of starting to get there, niiiiice.
