In it’s original incarnation “Die Slow” is an epic blast of serrated tekno shards that rip through neo industrial noise light fields with maximum metallic grind. A truly take no prisoners proposition. In the silvery hands of those awesome New Jersey italo exorcists, Pink Stallone, what was once blunt and brutal, a futuristic monolith coated in glittering grime is now transformed and remoulded into a golden Moroderesque orb floating through elysian pastures haunted by the  elegiac androgynous tones of Jake Duzsik echoing from high above pastel cumulonibus clouds that burst with tearjerking balearic bliss-disco droplets.

For those of you who happen to dwell in New York City, HEALTH will be playing a show at the Bowery Ballroom with the mindmelting support of Pictureplane and Tanlines. Needless to say this particular XXJFG brother will be in attendance waiting for his eardrums to be ritually shredded in the best possible way.

Still stuck in NYC, XXJFG has teamed up with our eternal mancrush over at True Panther (FYI – pick up the kila new Girl’s album which came out yesterday) to bring you Society which commences next Tuesday at Arrow Bar in Manhattan. DJ Kingdom, the ddarkk bass lord and overall walking, robo-diva fever dream will be DJing a slot which will undoubtedly inspire some broken bones. We also have Brooklyn based 2-piece Blondes playing live, the idea of which has me foaming at the mouth, such is the tru magik of their music. Don’t believe me? Then drown yourself in the majesty of “Moondance”, a mindblowing experience which is akin to sitting solitarily atop a giant hill that overlooks a neon splashed future metropolis immersed in otherwordly baby blue mists, and watching as those holographic skyscraping structures crumble into undulating waves of pixeldust before your very eyes.

So what does it do? it lures you inside the bedroom, closes the door and hacks at you with razor blades. It pumps you with psychedelic drugs and throws you into a pool full of sharks. It is hardcore body music on the prowl, engineered by instinct in a brutally abstract way,  hit & run of  rhythm, noise and drone melody shards fracturing your field of vision, primary colours seep through the cracks. Oil on water, a feeling of sexy oppression, forlorn love letters written in a cryptic code from the same jacking basement where My Bloody Valentine and Daft Punk create the thickest music from the weirdest materials. Candidate to album of the year? We are so there.

Little Claw have a new album out, it is called Human Taste and it seethes with yummy sweaty country nastiness. It’s all about fierce urges, craving and stomping down twisted and dusty paths. It reminds me of the following apocryphal story: there was this girl pop band who were tipped up to be the hottest thing in the air-waves, you know, proper Phil Spector material. Their van broke down in the derelict backwaters of most primeval Appalachia while they were out on tour, and they were never seen again. Some say that they roamed in the wilderness, filthy and starved, and at some point, under a furious storm that uprooted trees and chipped the sides of the hills, they got the feral blues. So they played under the gaze of mangy wild dogs and stern birds of prey, covered in mud and blood, they played with the fury of those who play for wild dogs and birds of prey and the moon gazing from between a shroud of storm clouds. They sounded a little bit like this.

We have taken ages to tell you about El Guincho, who Felix from Discoteca Oceano (who have released his record Alegranza: BUY) reported to us about a good half a year ago, well, it’s about time we did, amongst other reasons because his music is the perfect antidote against the razor sharp claws of winter.

El Guincho rocks joyous drum party jams with the contagious enthusiasm of Animal Collective if they hailed from Las Islas Canarias, where people communicate whistling (well, some of them do), instead of Baltimore where it’s cold and wizards craft spells in cellars which hide secrets, the vibe is one of omnivorous assimilation of a myriad influences with the mischievous disregard from conventions that sets M.I.A. apart from the rest of the mutant R&B whatchacallit pack, all these snippets bits and beats are then put together with magic Rubik cube skills and the sort of efortless flair that would make the Avalanches proud, and thrown into the air where they raise like dolphins straight out of the psychedelic shamanic hat, music flies into the cloudy coral reefs of the sky bringing down pastel coloured rain which makes the spirit swell like accelerated films of spring fields spreading, let’s have a beach party under the stars kids, El Guincho is playing.

Continuing with the drum rain vibe, excellent HEALTH have sent us an exclusive remix of Lost Time done by Pictureplane as part of the HEALTH//DISCO thang, and to be honest we are having trouble writing about it because it’s so fucking awesome the sempiternal twitch of percussion-induced excitement has infected our gnarly pale paws, thank god telekinetic rays thrown via a hyperdeveloped pineal gland come to our rescue pressing the right letters in the keyboard of our battered computer, thank you Dr. Pretorius for all these handy mutations, but keep those fucking alien eels away from our faces.

Which is a circle of steam hammers pounding into the vast expanses of the desert and pumping out the spiritual power melange spice lying under the golden sands with the intensely focused energy of say Vitalic in Valleta Fanfares or OOIOO in Uma, all following the rotund lines of the magick ritual which Boredoms scribbled last year over the tattered pages of NYC, a heart-swelling image of kraftwerkian misty precision and beauty stretches enigmatically surveyed by magic birds of synth fire flying high above in a sky of perfect blue which slowly starts filling with magenta clouds of power, kids do the ghost dance in the disco too you know, and it works fucking wonders.
