Incredible yes !! I cant believe I have never heard of this band before. Who or what are they? My friend Ben brought this track to the studio and played it to me and i was completely hooked, they seem to capture every little thing I’m into from a musical point of view..

As soon I listened to this I wanted to try to create something along the same lines. its just an amazing track that’s full of inspiration in the way it must have been recorded, can you imagine having all the master tapes to this guys music and spending a month sampling his beats……….I wish!!!!

Snakefinger-What Wilbur

This comes from the same guy who brought the natural yoghurt band to the studio, his name is Ben and he keeps appearing with bags of records by artists that are really inspiring, this track is totally bizarre in every way ,I love the munsters vibe mixed with odd sounds and a meaningless arrangement FANTASTIC stuff on a gong tip!

The Emperor Machine return with album number trois with much rippling of synths, bulbous polymorphic cloudscapes punctured by the stabbing points atop the Martian radio masts and sonic batshit accounts of the interstellar clashes of lunar violence between moon-monkeys and the giallo Saturn marshalls, lost in space and time forever where no-one can hear them scream.

“Dave Gent” is pure vintage synths quaking on the burning cold surface of the frozen tundras of Pluto, an Assault on Moon-Unit 13 by invisible but deadly lifeforms – a tense scene of stealthy combat played out across the reflective visor of a spacesuit, shattered and dripping with blood that floats out in zero-G globules glistening amongst the stars.

Faze Action travel back in time to 1978 to hijack Osé’s Orgasmachine and ride it back to the year 2525. With the chrome-plated funk of Kano, the ‘cisco strut of Sylvester and the vocal pattern of The Supremes locked inside a super-computer, “Stratus Energy” is formed which spontaneously transporting the Mayan transcedental third eye formations of Latin America and the ghostly wooden bangle-beats of deepest Africa to the surface of a far-flung planet in a disco dimension.

“Danae’s Journey” is a disco-expedition across silver sands on a backdrop vista of purple palm trees and golden pyramid clusters, the arduous journey of a princess on her faithful cyber-augmented camel to her beloved robot prince.

GATEKEEPER – Summer Hits Mixtape

DC Recordings stroke the pure white as the driven snow jazz-funk kitty in their ivory tower of space/time combobulation, silently content that their latest creation, Higamos Hogamos, are poised like winged monkeys to fly forth and pillage the lands below with their glorious jumble of nuevo-krautrock and sci-fi beatnik – a sound that can only of come from another world where Marc Bolan had actually been a robot and formed Kraftwerk in the reflected sheen from a passing sunshine daydream.

Higamos Hogamos- Infinity Plus One (The Emperor Machine Dub Instrumental)

This “Infinity Plus One” lick, the next single from the self titled debut, is now picked apart by the dukes of echo-chamber fear-pop The Emperor Machine who half the bpm count and spread the track across several levels so it sounds like a noisy slinky folding over itself in repeated movements. Harmonia are stretched to the sonic limit whilst the cavalcade spearheads toward Zion, in another time, in another place.

(ps, cannot explain the crackle-fest on the player for this track – best just to download and enjoy…)

Then in Zion, where all you see is streaks of colour, backlit by synthesised moods, ΤΗΞ LΔΖΣ are spinning towards the earth from behind the solar eclipse all slow motion and holographic with the clouds bleeding across the sky like coloured dye dropped into water.

ΤΗΞ LΔΖΣ – Run Into Space (The Ascension of Nightjar)

What begins as JC ’70s horror-house thumps, soon transmogrifies into medieval prog-rave vs. whimsical melodic alien folk that teases and taunts the artwork from Hawkwind LPs into life, strange creatures that congregate around the stone altar at cobalt-blue midnite awaiting the virgin sacrifice with reverie but are given instead a wicker man constructed from synthesiser circuit boards and the dials and keys from butchered mellotrons, all bound together with guitar strings and duct tape. They light the power chord trailing from the foot as the music strikes up.

Burning chrome and woodland creatures of unknown design can always conjure up the brilliance of Crossover. Surviving the Electroclash fall-out with just the correct amount of mutation irradiating their musical DNA, they return on Punch with enough electronic gloom to turn Suspiria’s technicolor terror into silent black n white.

Crossover – Dark Blue

On “Dark Blue”, Crossover make like the linear bat-demon depicted on the cover of new LP “Space Death”, hovering over the stylised city bathed in blood on the hunt for kills, and thus thrills, aided by a thousand points of sequenced stabbing fear and a macabre wireframe of synth effects and strings.

DC Recordings follow up the 2006 evil squirrel-themed compilation of all sounds tectonic and spectral-cosmic with Death Before Distemper 2: Revenge of the Iron Ferret. Said compilation features standard DC Recs bands – The Emperor Machine recording porn music for alien species, Padded Cell soundtracking cloaked skeletons running slow motion after terrified maidens, Kelpe creating underwater jamborees from the remnants of pirate ships and The Oscillation invoking spirits from BBC library synth music – but then they throw a few more aliens into the tracklist. One such off-worlder is Astral Manhole Project.

Astral Manhole Project – Perfected Love

AMP begin with a rolling bassline that Jean Michel Jarre’s ‘Oxygene IV’ would lay perfectly with, all the while unaware of the army of Space Invaders slowly approaching with lasers on full blast, ready to decimate pixelated tanks to the beat and layers of fuzz and spacial feedback blast screaming alien faces in silhouette across the room of the arcade, while vast spaceships collide overhead.

Rapster Records, following on from the Prince covers album, are gathering luminaries from across the musical globe to form a Bowie covers album, ‘Life Beyond Mars – Bowie Covered’. Joakim & The Disco stretch out ‘New Career in a New Town’ into a darkly echoing horrorhouse dub track that at times sounds like ‘The Frog Chorus’ bootlegged with ‘Nightmare’ by Brain Bug. Susumu Yokota delivers Quaalude visions in a spinning karaoke vacuum on ‘Golden Years’, Matthew Dear turns ‘Sound & Vision’ into a cosmic glacial second coming and Leo Minor transforms ‘Ashes to Ashes’ into a j-pop Strokes.

The Emperor Machine – Repetition

The Emperor Machine whisks Bowie off to their Martian jungle where the creatures of the Trigan Empire have created a slinky disco (not disco) percussion ensemble that would prick up the ears of James Murphy with its shifting hi-hats and harpsichord wobbles…

…and Kelley Polar goes for maybe the most ridiculous of Bowie’s bulging back catalogue, ‘Magic Dance’ from Labyrinth. Remember Labyrinth, kids? It was one of those terrible but great films that formed a layer in the totem pole of your childhood, worshipped alongside such throwaway crap as Visionaries, Ewoks Adventures and the 3rd series of Transformers (the one where it all went downhill). We al have the DVD, so you should be able to sing along:

Kelley Polar – Magic Dance

Kelley balls up the original, spins it off of the corner of a looping synthesiser through a searing blue holographic ring of flame and out into an alternate universe where the kidnapping goblins are actually Wall-E-styled comedy robots, flinging the stolen baby round a zero-G spacepod with Bowie strutting around awkwardly doing the robot in a silver moon suit and Kim Wilde fright-wig.
